WERTZ NAMED A SPOTLIGHT CANDIDATE BY DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATIVE CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE
Wertz continues to gain momentum with boost from national Democratic committee
Erie, PA — Jim Wertz’s campaign for Senate District 49 was named to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee’s (DLCC) list of must-watch races for 2024. The DLCC is the official committee charged with electing Democrats to state legislatures across the country. Each year, the DLCC selects strong candidates running in critical races to highlight nationally as Spotlights in an effort to raise awareness and resources for their campaigns. Wertz’s position as a Spotlight candidate is a major momentum boost in his campaign against Senator Dan Laughlin.
“Democratic state legislators are on the frontlines defending and expanding our access to abortion care, gun safety reform, and the right to vote,” said DLCC President Heather Wiliams. “In 2022, the DLCC led state Democrats to have the most successful midterm election year for the president’s party in nearly a century and we are continuing our momentum in 2024. We are proud to include Jim Wertz on our growing list of amazing candidates who are committed to making a difference in their communities.”
“I am honored to be one of the DLCC’s must-watch candidates,” said Wertz. “Erie is firmly in the national spotlight this election year, and the road to a Democratic majority in the Pennsylvania Senate goes through Erie County. The stakes are high for our region — and investment in our campaign will pay off as we work hard to win this race.”
