WERTZ ENDORSED BY CURRENT AND FORMER ERIE COUNTY SHERIFFS
Wertz continues to build momentum and local support in the race for SD-49

Erie, PA — Today, State Senate candidate Jim Wertz announced the endorsements of Erie County Sheriff Chris Campanelli and former Erie County Sheriffs John Loomis and Bob Merski Sr. The announcement follows the endorsement of former Erie mayor Joyce Savocchio. Wertz continues to build momentum with notable support from local leaders.

“As a Marine and as Sheriff, I’ve always valued leaders with a strong sense of duty,” said Campanelli. “Jim has led with a sense of duty, and I am confident that his commitment to our community will make him an effective leader in the State Senate. That’s why I ask for your vote for Jim Wertz this year.”

“I am grateful to Chris, Bob, and John for their support,” Wertz said. “As your state senator, I will always prioritize safe communities so all of our families can thrive.”

Sheriff Campanelli is an Erie native and Marine Corps veteran. He served in the Erie County Sheriff’s Office for 25 years before being elected as Sheriff in 2021.

John Loomis is a lifelong Erie County resident who worked for the Erie Department of Corrections before serving in the Erie County Sheriff’s office for over two decades. He served as County Sheriff from 2013-2021.

Bob Merski, Sr. served as Erie County Sheriff for 16 years before retiring in 2013.

Additional endorsements for Wertz are expected in the coming weeks.
