JIM WERTZ ENDORSED BY CONGRESSMAN MATT CARTWRIGHT
In a sign of strong and growing momentum, Wertz’s support now stretches from local elected officials and organized labor to members of Pennsylvania’s Congressional delegation

Erie, PA — Today, State Senate candidate Jim Wertz continued to show strong momentum for his campaign as he announced his endorsement from Congressman Matt Cartwright (D, PA-8).

“I told Jim when I was in Erie last year that I like the way he operates,” said Cartwright. “He’s decisive, he’s honest, and he has vision. Just like Congress, it’s important to have representatives at the state level who are committed to investing in our schools, protecting choice, and strengthening the middle class. I’m proud to support Jim Wertz for State Senate because of our shared values.”

“Congressman Cartwright has always been a strong fighter for working people,” said Wertz. “He understands the importance of having a State Senate that will work to create opportunity for local families across Pennsylvania, including Erie County. I’m proud to have his support and look forward to working with him to improve our quality of life throughout our commonwealth.”

U.S. Representative Matt Cartwright represents Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District and was first sworn into Congress on January 3, 2013. In Congress, Congressman Cartwright is committed to working across the aisle to advocate for working families. He has introduced over 150 bipartisan bills, more than any other House Democrat during his time in office.

This is yet another major endorsement as Wertz continues to build strong momentum with endorsements from local elected officials, statewide labor organizations, and now members of the United States Congress. He recently received endorsements from PSEA-PACE, the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties, the American Federation of Teachers – Pennsylvania, the Erie City Council president and other members, the Regional Council of Carpenters, County Councilmen Terry ScutellaChris Drexel and Rock Copeland, former Erie Mayor Joyce Savocchio, and a group of current and former Erie County Sheriffs.

Wertz has raised over $100k in the race for Senate District 49.

The Democratic Primary for Senate District 49 and other races up and down the ballot will take place on Tuesday, April 23.
