JIM WERTZ ENDORSED BY ASSOCIATION OF PENNSYLVANIA STATE COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY FACULTIES
Wertz, who is a longtime APSCUF member and former officer, scores another major endorsement from organized labor.

Erie, PA — Today, State Senate candidate Jim Wertz announced his endorsement from the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF). Wertz has been a member of the APSCUF for 19 years, and has served the union as a Central Labor Council delegate, public relations chair, executive committee member of the Edinboro University APSCUF, a member of the statewide legislative assembly, and served as spokesperson and media relations chair for APSCUF during their 2016 strike. 

We support candidates that believe in a strong system of public higher education in the Commonwealth and share our union values. We are excited by the prospect of you serving in the General Assembly and look forward to working together for your victory,” wrote APSCUF President Kenneth M. Mash in a letter addressed to Wertz.

“I am proud to earn the support of APSCUF, the union I have been proud to serve as a member for nearly two decades,” said Wertz. “I share their commitment to an exceptional public higher education system in Pennsylvania that creates opportunity for our hardworking students.”

APSCUF represents nearly 5,000 faculty members and coaches at Pennsylvania’s fourteen state-owned universities.

This is yet another major endorsement as Wertz continues to build a groundswell of support in Erie County. He recently received endorsements from the American Federation of Teachers – PennsylvaniaErie City Council president and other members, the Regional Council of Carpenters, County Councilmen Terry ScutellaChris Drexel and Rock Copeland, former Erie Mayor Joyce Savocchio, and a group of current and former Erie County Sheriffs.

Wertz has raised over $100k in the race for Senate District 49.

The Democratic Primary for Senate District 49 and other races up and down the ballot will take place on Tuesday, April 23.
